On behalf of President Kermit L. Hall
September 27, 2005
Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that Miriam Trementozzi will assume a new role at the University as Assistant to the President for Strategic Initiatives. Over her five years in the Office of the President, she has developed the University's engagement in regional arenas as varied as economic development, health care, and heritage programming. The new position will help catalyze and advance opportunities of strategic importance to the University, connecting us with a wider array of constituencies ranging from the regional to international levels.
Ms. Trementozzi will be instrumental in building bridges that will enable the University to leverage its diverse strengths, address emerging needs, and expand our impacts. Her varied portfolio, among other initiatives, will include: assisting the China Working Group, which is developing a strategy for greater UAlbany involvement in China; forging a partnership with Albany High School that will strengthen our recruitment efforts; and assisting a group that will assess the campus environment. Ms. Trementozzi will continue building strategic community and neighborhood relationships, such as the Midtown project, to enhance the quality of life for both the University community and our neighbors. In addition, she will maintain her role in providing staff leadership to the Business-Higher Education Roundtable of the Capital Region.
Ms. Trementozzi brings a wide range of experience and knowledge to this position. Prior to coming to UAlbany, she held several leadership and management positions over her nine years at the Rockefeller Institute of Government. These included director of the New York Program, director of the State Commission on the Capital Region, deputy director of the Federalism Research Group and deputy director of the National Commission on the State and Local Public Service. Her experience also includes public service as a budget analyst for the NYS Division of the Budget and community service as the executive director of Historic Albany Foundation. Ms. Trementozzi has an M.P.A. from our Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, a master’s in history/historic preservation, and a master’s in art history and archaeology.
On behalf of our entire community, please join me in welcoming Miriam Trementozzi in her new role at the University at Albany.
With best personal and professional wishes, I remain
Sincerely,
Kermit L. Hall
President and Professor of History
