Michael Tobman is a seasoned political professional with extensive accomplishments in media relations, organizing, and campaign consulting. He is a 1995 graduate of the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy at the University at Albany, and a 1998 graduate of the City University School of Law.

Formerly Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for US Senator Charles Schumer, Michael has deep experience managing political efforts throughout New York. Before that, he worked for the Nassau County Legislature first as Deputy Counsel, and then as Chief of Staff.

Michael spent over three years working for Senator Schumer, and then launched The Educational Alliance for Children in New York State. TEACH NYS conducted a statewide bipartisan advocacy campaign in support of an Education Tax Credit proposal, which was included in Governor Pataki’s last budget proposal. This coalition ultimately secured $600 million in still ongoing annual state tax credits for families with school age children.
Michael has represented the growing network of Hebrew Language Charter Schools in New York since 2008.

In 2010, he coordinated three insurgent State Senate primary campaigns in New York City as part of a broader successful effort to press the state legislature to pass Race to the Top legislation. Michael continues to coordinate statewide issue campaigns in New York, most recently in support of maintaining community access to concert and sports venues.
In 2012, he served as Senior Advisor and Communications Director for the successful Congressional campaigns (primary and general elections) of Assemblywoman Grace Meng, with whom he has worked since 2008.

The following year, Michael coordinated the statewide campaign for local approval to be included in efforts to allow commercial casino gaming in NYS.  In addition, he was General Consultant for a successful NYC Council campaign in south Brooklyn.
Since 2014, Michael has worked with faith communities, developers, and foundations across a wide range of topics and interests in every region of New York.

Michael lives in downtown Brooklyn with his wife and two children. During basketball season, they are often at Nets games on Fridays, and then Knicks games on Saturdays.
