Job Shadowing & Informational Interviewing - Volunteers are needed to host graduate students for job shadowing experiences.
Students will be matched with alumni in specific career areas to enable the student to "shadow" the alum for a half day to a full day so that students can get a flavor for specific types of positions in the fields of public policy, public administration, non-profit management or private consulting firms. Students are also encourage to seek out professionals in the field and conduct 45 minute informational interviews.
The purpose of the Informational Interviews is to gain a greater understanding of different positions with in Public Affairs & Administration.

Career Panels - Career Panels last for one hour and are scheduled several times throughout the academic year. Panels are offered by concentration areas (non-profit management, lobbying, or working in congress). Approximately 4-5 panelists are selected for each section and asked to give 5-8 minute individual presentations about their career. The remaining time is allotted for student questions and interaction.
Mentoring Program - If you are able to provide additional one-on-one time with students, you can be an Alumni Mentor. Mentors are always in demand. Students enjoy learning about topics such as how to survive in different office/organizational cultures, networking basics, and other professional development advice. Captain Joel R. Whitehead, who was Captain of the Port and commanded Marine Safety Office Boston from 1999 to 2001, has been nominated by President Bush for promotion in the U.S. Coast Guard to the rank of Rear Admiral.
