Awards Recipients Biographies
Lawrence J. Korb, Ph.D. '69
Lawrence J. Korb was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award in Political Science. Since earning in Ph.D Dr. Korb has worked in various teaching and professional capacities including serving as the Assistant Secretary of Defense from 1981 through 1985. Dr. Korb is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress and Senior Advisor at the Center of Defense Information. Dr. Korb has authored twenty books as well as over 100 articles on national security issues.
Distinguished Alumnus Award in Political Science
Anne T. McCartt, PhD. '88
The Rockefeller College awarded Anne. T. McCartt the Distinguished Alumna Award in Public Administration and Policy. Dr. McCartt is currently Vice President, Research at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. She has worked in the highway safety area for more than twenty years. Prior to her current appointment, Dr. McCartt was a Senior Research Associate with Preusser Research Group. Dr. McCartt has authored more than 120 technical reports and safety papers on highway safety, on topics including side airbag effectiveness and distracted driving.
Distinguished Alumna Award in Public Administration
& Policy
Frank J. Mauro
Frank J. Mauro was honored with the Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Mauro is currently the Executive Director of the Fiscal Policy Institute, a non – profit research and education organization. Prior to this Mr. Mauro was the Deputy Director of the State University of New York’s Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government where he directed the Local Government Restructuring Project and the New York State Network for Economic Research. Mr. Mauro also teaches college and graduate level courses that involved both economic and political analysis and teaches an undergraduate survey course in the “Government and Politics of New York State” here at SUNY Albany.
Rockefeller College Distinguished Service Award
Laurie N. DiPadova-Stocks, Ph.D. '95
The Distinguished Extended Learning Leadership Award of Excellence was awarded to Laurie N. DiPadova-Stocks, who earned her Ph.D at Rockefeller College in 1995. Dr. DiPadova-Stocks is currently the Dean of the Hauptmann School of Public Affairs and Policy at Park University. She has been committed to involving the university and the community and developing options for professional employees to continue their education. Dr. DiPadova-Stocks has developed various curriculum options to meet the needs of the growing number of adult learners at Park University.
Distinguished Extended Learning Leadership Award of Excellence
Jennifer L. Givner, MPA '02
Jennifer Givner was recognized with the Rockefeller College Young Alumni Award. Ms. Givner is the Press Secretary for the New York City Department of Buildings, where she has served as the main spokesperson for the agency for public initiatives and media enquiries. In this position, Ms. Givner Composed speeches and presentations for the Commissioner and executive staff members as well as coordinating communication and public affairs strategies between the agency and the mayors office. Ms. Givner has worked for the City and State of New York for nearly seven years.
