Judith R. Saidel, MA '73, PhD '90

Judith Saidel is a professor emerita of public administration and policy.  Her research interests have included interdependence and contract management issues between public agencies and nonprofit organizations, nonprofit governance, and gender and political participation. From 1991-2009, she served as director of the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society, a research, policy education, leadership development, technical assistance and training center founded in 1978 as part of the Graduate School of Public Affairs.  For a number of years, Saidel directed and was principal investigator of the Center’s Appointed Policy Makers in State Government project.  She also was the founder and chair of the Nonprofit Executive Roundtable at UAlbany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy.  The Roundtable sponsored applied research publications and the Tech Valley Civic Forum, a multi-sector, multi-year regional social change process.   From 2000-2002, she was principal investigator of Governance Futures: New Perspectives on Nonprofit Governance, Discovery Phase, a project under the leadership of BoardSource, based in Washington, D.C., in collaboration with the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations, Harvard University.
