Angelica Clarke is the executive director at the Albany Social Justice Center. She is a community organizer whose interests include women of color empowerment, leadership development and creating mechanisms for community control in marginalized communities. She currently organizes against prisons, police violence and other forms of structural racism as a founding member of Capital Area Against Mass Incarceration. She studied political science with a concentration in international relations at Rockefeller College at the University at Albany. After graduating, she worked as a staff organizer for the Graduate Student Employees Union/CWA 1104 based on the UAlbany campus. Since then, she has had the pleasure of offering workshops for graduate students and faculty from UAlbany and around the world focused on black liberation, understanding power and community organizing. She regularly offers local workshops on leadership development and organizing to build community power in the Capital Region.
