Assemblywoman Addie Jenne Russell represents the 116th Assembly District, also known as the "River District." The district follows the shore of the majestic Saint Lawrence River from the northeast corner of Lake Ontario to the manufacturing town of Massena, bordering on Fort Drum and the mighty Black River to the east. Ms. Russell was formerly an attorney at Conboy, McKay, Bachman, & Kendall, LLP, and served on the Jefferson County Board of Legislators from 2006 until 2009, when she became a member of the New York State Assembly.
Ms. Russell, a 1996 graduate of Indian River Central School, received a BA in Political Science (Greek and Roman Civilization minor) magna cum laude, from the University of Albany in May of 2009, and JD with a Certificate in Family Law and Social Policy from Syracuse University College of Law in May 2003. She was admitted to the New York State Bar in February 2004.
Born in Watertown, New York and raised in Philadelphia, New York, Ms. Russell now resides in Theresa, New York with her husband James, son Aaron and daughter Cora.
As a member of the New York State Assembly, Ms. Russell chairs the Assembly Task Force on Women's Issues and the Subcommittee on Women Veterans. She sits on the following seven committees: Agriculture; Veterans' Affairs; Economic Development; Energy; Corporations; Export Trade; and Local Government. She is a member of the Legislative Bipartisan Pro Choice Caucus, Legislative Women's Caucus, and the Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus.
