Certificate in Public Sector Management - Homeland Security Concentration

The Homeland Security concentration is part of the Certificate program in Public Sector Management.  The curriculum, designed by University faculty in consultation with law enforcement, intelligence, and public management experts, provides graduates with the foundation to become more effective homeland security professionals and managers.

Students in the Homeland Security concentration will increase their understandings of:

  • The origin, nature, and impact of terrorism;
  • Forces affecting flow of information and intelligence;
  • The role of domestic criminal justice and intelligence agencies;
  • Analytic, methodological, and technical skills for analyzing security issues.

Requirements for the Public Management Homeland Security Concentration

The following two courses are required of all students in the Homeland Security Concentration of the Public Sector Management Certificate program:

  • PAD 504 – Data, Models and Decisions 1*

    *Note: PAD 505, PAD 557, CRJ 504 or CRJ 505 can be substituted.

  • PAD 554 (POS 554) – Political Violence, Insurgency and Terrorism
