Join us for a panel discussion moderated by Susan Arbetter, host of The Capitol Pressroom, WCNY’s weekday statewide radio program about New York State government and politics. This event is an opportunity for the community to come together to pay respect to those who lost their lives on September 11th and to continue the important dialogue about how we have changed — as individuals, New Yorkers, and Americans — in the 10 years since the attacks on September 11, 2001.
Our panelists are:
- Mark Schaming, director of exhibits, New York State Museum
- Kenneth T. Jackson, historian and author, Columbia University
- Jamie Tarabay, managing editor for national security & foreign affairs, National Journal
- Paul Grondahl, author and award-winning journalist,Times Union
- Victor Asal, associate professor of political science, Rockefeller College and co-founder of the Project on Violent Conflict
Prior to the discussion, from 6-7pm, there will be a reception with light refreshments in an exhibition area adjacent to the auditorium. The museum’s World Trade Center: Rescue, Recovery, Response exhibit will be open that evening to anyone attending the event.

"The day started as any other day, that fateful day, 10 years ago. We all heard of the plane crashing into the World Trade Center in New York City, and many have though of it as an "accident"...Then, In horror, we saw or heard of the "2nd plane" crashing into the other twin towers."
