The PMA (Programa Mundial de Alimentación) has undertaken a program of food distribution for the next six months: they now are distributing corn, beans, oil, and corazon de trigo for atol to families affected by Hurricane Stan. The PMA is using official municipal lists to identify affected families is distributing food through the COCODE, the local development council (consejos de desarrollo).
Unfortunately, poorer families who were lucky enough not to lose their homes or possessions are ineligible to receive distributions of food from the PMA.
