Public Health Leaders of Tomorrow Program (PHLOT)
In 2006, the University at Albany School of Public Health, with tremendous support from Senator Kemp Hannon (former chair of the NYS Senate Standing Committee on Health) and the NYSDOH established the PHLOT program to strengthen the current public health infrastructure in NYS and train the next generation of public health leaders. Priority is placed on student involvement and work with local health departments where workforce development needs are most critical. PHLOT provides tuition awards to current NYS DOH and local health department (LHD) employees currently enrolled in SPH certificate and degree programs; internship stipends for current UA SPH students focusing on public health practice positions; and supports numerous professional development and leadership opportunities and programs.
