Midtown Neighborhood Watch
This program stems from the strong belief that the safety and conditions in the neighborhoods involved can be drastically improved if neighbors work closely with the local city agencies. Nightly foot patrols serve as the "eyes and ears" of the Albany Police Department to report suspicious activity. Volunteers will not become involved in any direct response unless so directed by the Albany Police Department.
Volunteers travel in pairs wearing "Neighborhood Watch" hats and highly visible flashing light armbands and use cell phones for communication. In addition, volunteers have a safety educational role by distributing appropriate safety information and tips as well as any safety alerts issued regarding incidents in the patrol or immediately adjacent area.
