Middle Earth Peer Assistance Program

The Middle Earth Peer Assistance Program provides hotline peer assistance and peer education services that assist students in meeting their educational goals and in coping with emotional, social, and other life issues that they face. Since its beginning in 1970, its primary focus has been on alcohol and other drug prevention as it relates to these issues. In line with its mission of prevention education, Middle Earth has sponsored Sexuality Week since 1983, focusing on issues related to such topics as gender, HIV/AIDS, relationships, identity, and reproductive rights. Middle Earth is nationally recognized as a model program by both the U.S. Department of Education and Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration for its work in addressing high-risk drinking among college students and underage youth.
