University in the High School (UHS)

In the UHS program, high school teachers become adjunct faculty members of the University, and give courses in their high schools for UAlbany college credit.  These courses provide students with the academic challenges of college-level curriculum during their final year(s) of high school.  As a "bridging" experience to college, UHS courses can help students begin to develop the skills and experience necessary for academic success in higher education. The teachers are visited in their classrooms by UAlbany faculty and academic staff to (1) ensure that the courses are taught by UAlbany standards, and (2) to give constructive feedback to the teachers.  Enrollment in UHS courses may provide future opportunities to students, such as the ability to enroll in higher-level college courses or to complete a four-year degree in a shorter amount of time.
