About Liz Yanoff …PhD, University at Albany Liz Yanoff spent the first seven years of her career teaching preschool and elementary school in Pennsylvania and Illinois. While she was teaching, she earned her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Recently, Liz completed her doctoral work in Reading at the University at Albany. Her dissertation entitled “Inquiry and Ideological Becoming in First Grade Literature Discussions” explored young children’s inquiry when reading together. Liz’s research and teaching interests overlap as she guides her graduate students to explore inquiry based instruction and thoughtful literacies. From dissertation work and research opportunities at the University, Liz has presented at local and national conferences as well as published papers. She currently serves on the Editorial Board for The Reading Teacher and is a member of New York State Reading Association’s Charlotte Award committee.
