About Helen Stuetzel

Helen Stuetzel has been an adjunct faculty member since 1987. She holds New York State certifications as an elementary teacher, reading teacher and school administrator at both building and district levels. She currently serves as principal for the Ballston Spa Middle School, which houses approximately 1100 students in grades 6-8. Prior to assuming this position, Helen served as the district’s Director of Instruction for nine years, as an elementary principal in another district, and as a classroom and remedial reading teacher at several levels. In addition to these public school experiences, Helen has taught at community colleges and at the graduate level for several colleges in the Capital District area. Her primary interests include: assessment, program development, teacher training, and children's literature. Her dissertation on teachers' use of basal reader manuals received an award from the Association of American Publishers, School Division.
