Programs Offered

MS in Early Childhood Education

This program provides the master’s degree for professional certification in the Early Childhood teaching certification area.  It does not provide eligibility for literacy specialist certification. To be eligible for this program you must hold a valid/pending initial NYS teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education (Birth through grades 2), or an equivalent first certificate from another state.

Early Childhood Education (Online and On Campus)
When taken online, this program is part-time only with a maximum of 2 courses/semester. When taken on campus, this program may be part-time or full-time.  To see a complete listing of the coursework, follow the planning worksheet link.

MS in Childhood Education

This program provides the master’s degree for professional certification in the Childhood Education teaching certification area. It does not provide eligibility for literacy specialist certification. MS in Literacy: B-6 or 5-12 or B-12

This program provides the master’s degree for professional certification in Literacy (B-6, 5-12, or both) and for professional certification in the area of your initial certification.  To be eligible for this program you must hold a valid NYS initial, professional, or permanent teaching certificate in any area.  Available part-time or full-time.

Literacy B-6, 5-12, B-12 (On Campus Only)

MS in Special Education and Literacy 43 hr

This program provides the master’s degree for initial/professional certification in Literacy (B-6, 5-12, or both), initial/professional certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 1 – 6) and for professional certification in the area of your initial certification.  To be eligible for this program you must hold a valid initial or professional teaching certificate in Childhood Education.  Available full-time only.

MS in Special Education/Literacy 67 hr

This program provides the master’s degree for initial/professional certification in Literacy (B-6, 5-12, or both), initial/professional certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 1 – 6) and initial/professional certification in Childhood Education.  You do not need to hold a teaching certificate to be eligible for this program.  Available full-time only.

MS in Reading

This program provides a master's degree in Reading and is designed for graduate students interested in literacy but with no prior teaching certifications. To be eligible for this program you must hold a Bachelor's degree.  This program is available either part-time or full-time.
