Obtaining your AVN#s and CPN#s for
Summer/Fall 2008
Continued from Page 1...
In
order to obtain an AVN# (that's an Advisement Verification Number),
you have to contact your advisor. If you do not know who your advisor
is, then email Linda Papa (LPapa@albany.edu)
and she will email the name of your advisor to you. If your advisor has recently
been changed, you should have received an email about this. Be sure
to check your UA email for a notice about this if you did not receive
one via your regular email address. If you are an online student, Trudy Walp IS your advisor (trudy@chestercreekpress.com).
When
you contact your advisor, be sure to list the course(s) you wish to take
in Summer/Fall 2008.(Note: the Fall Schedule isn't published yet, so you will have to wait a little while to plan fall courses). If the course(s) are open enrollment,
the AVN# you receive will allow you to register. However, if you select a "closed" course
(that is a course that requires a CPN#--Course Permission Number), then you will
need to obtain a CPN. Even though the UA site tells you to contact the instructor
for a CPN, our instructors do NOT have the CPNs to give out. You have to
obtain them from the Department.
The following courses are controlled by CPNs:
All online courses (open only to matriculated students in the online programs--we no longer have waiting lists for other students, instead, we open online courses near to the beginning of the semester, and it's first-come, first-served. Contact Stephanie Affinito for CPNs if you are an online student. Watch for an announcement on our home page if you are not an online Reading student, but want to take an online Reading course. Please do NOT contact instructors directly, they cannot admit you into a CPN-controlled course!
ERDG600 (contact Mary Unser--but you must have completed ERDG500)
ERDG605 (contact Mary Unser--but you must have completed ERDG505)
ERDG620 (contact Mary Unser--but you must have completed ERDG600)
Students
in the Special Ed/Literacy programs should contact Sue Alven (Salven@albany.edu)
for their cpns in these closed courses.
