Ginny McCann has been a part time lecturer with the Reading Department for twelve years. She is presently a Regional Coach for the Hudson Valley Regional School Support Center and provides professional development and coaching for two rural schools. Ms McCann was an assistant professor for five years for the State University College at
Oneonta where she taught reading courses and supervised student teachers. She was also a Reading Recovery teacher for five years. Her chief professional research interest is initial literacy acquisition for struggling readers and English Language Learners. In conjunction with this research, Ms McCann has observed in primary classrooms and
interviewed classroom teachers and administrators in two schools in Villebonne, France.
