The Reading Department offers an MS in
Childhood Education (Literacy), in a part-time online
format through UA's Blackboard online delivery system.**
[The
Reading Department also offers, but only for students already in
the program, an MS (Reading): Classroom Teacher
Track Online, in a part-time online format. This program will continue for students
already enrolled in it. but no new students have been accepted into
this program starting in Spring, 2005. Students already enrolled
in the Classroom Track will be able to complete their programs online, provided they complete the program within the required 5 years beyond their provisional certification.]
Online
graduate study offers students the same top quality faculty and coursework
at a flexible pace and convenient format. Because the program is
identical to our on-campus programs, the Childhood
Education online program is an appropriate
degree for professional certification in grades 1-6.
Online
graduate study at the University at Albany is a rigorous endeavor
requiring at least 12-15 hours of study and preparation per week
for each 3-credit course. Courses are offered online during the fall,
spring, and summer semesters. Because this is a part-time program,
it takes at least two years (6 semesters) of study to complete the
online M.S. You may also study at a slower pace. For example, by
taking one class every semester you would finish the program in just
over three years.
Most
students generally take one or two courses per semester. If you want
to take three courses, you must have special permission and will
be placed on a waiting list for the third course, pending course
availability. If you are interested in taking a full-time load, you
should apply to an on-campus program.
Application
and admissions to our online programs are identical to our oncampus
programs. Click here for details.

**Online courses up until recently have been through SUNY Learning Network (SLN), but UA is transitioning to Blackboard and this will be completed by 2009.
