Her impressive resume includes Assistant Secretary posts with the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services; and 10 years as executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme. She is now a professor of public administration at Syracuse University and a senior fellow at the Bill Gates Foundation, where she is advancing agricultural development in Africa.
