Progress of Presidential Search
May 17, 2007
Statement from George M. Philip to
The UAlbany Community
The search for the University at Albany's 18th
President is progressing with the assistance of the
executive search firm,
Heidrick & Struggles. Ellen E. Brown has
lead responsibility for Heidrick & Struggles and
works directly with the
presidential search committee. Ms. Brown is
joined by Mr. Nathaniel J. Sutton, the managing
partner for Heidrick & Struggles. Ms. Brown and Mr.
Sutton will assist the presidential search committee
in making informed decisions about the best
qualified candidates.
The sequence and timing of search activities is
designed to result in a group of substantial and
well positioned finalists. You will have the
opportunity to meet the finalists during the
on-campus, public phase of this presidential search.
Heidrick & Struggles will post the position in
appropriate national publications early this summer.
Applicant screenings will occur until such time as
the presidency is filled. We project that on-campus
interviews of the finalists will commence prior to
the midpoint of the fall 2007 academic term.
We are committed to providing the leadership for
this presidential search in a manner and at a pace
that positions UAlbany most favorably for the
future. Your input into this process is critical to
achieving that objective. I encourage your
nomination of candidates, participation in the
on-campus, public phase of the selection process,
and most importantly, continuing your contributions
to our fine public University.
Regards,
George M. Philip, Esq.
