Presidential Innovation Fund for Research and Scholarship
As one of his top priorities, University at Albany President Robert J. Jones during his presidential inauguration highlighted the goal of tripling the University’s annual research expenditures over the next decade.
In support of this aim, the University announced the creation of the Presidential Innovation Fund for Research and Scholarship (PIFRS) program last year to stimulate new cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research. Now in its second year, this $500,000 competitive, peer reviewed, seed funding program will once again fund multi-investigator led projects in targeted research areas including liberal arts and humanities; life sciences and biomedical research; health disparities; engineering, applied sciences and advanced data analytics; and homeland security, extreme weather resiliency, forensics and cyber security
The Presidential Innovation Fund for Research and Scholarship is specifically designed to support new and transformational research that will strengthen UAlbany faculty’s ability to compete for large-scale, interdisciplinary extramural awards, and at the same time, raise the national and international profile of the University and its faculty.
The Division for Research will oversee the Presidential Innovation Fund for Research and Scholarship, which will launch in June 2016 with award announcements expected in December 2016.
