Scholarship: Jacob K. Javits Graduate Fellowship
Criteria: The Jacob K. Javits Graduate Fellowships are awarded by the
U.S.
Department of Education to support graduate students in the arts,
humanities and social sciences. A total of approximately 60 to 100 new
fellowships are awarded each year. The Fellowship consists of full tuition
and a stipend of up to $21,500 for up to four years. The amount of funding
depends on financial need. Applicants must file a FAFSA to be eligible for
consideration. Graduating seniors that intend to enroll in a Ph.D. program
or terminal Master's degree program are eligible to apply. Candidates must
be U.S. citizens, nationals or permanent residents. For more information,

Scholarship: Stanley Fink Legislative Internship
Criteria: To be eligible for consideration, students must meet the
academic requirements of Dean's List, with at least 56 credits of academic
work taken at the University at Albany. In addition, the selection process
will include consideration of the student's financial need. The Fink
Internship will carry a stipend and 15 academic credits for the spring
semester in the New York State Assembly. Applications are available in

Scholarship: Fannie and John Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowship
Criteria: Each year, the Hertz Foundation offers financial support for
graduating seniors who wish to pursue work leading to a Ph.D. in applied
physical sciences. Stipend support varies – please check website for more
information. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. For

Scholarship: Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans
Criteria: The Soros Fellowships provide for up to two years of graduate
study in the US for "New Americans". The fellowships cover half tuition
plus a maintenance grant of $20,000. New Americans include resident aliens
(i.e., holders of a Green Card), naturalized U.S. citizens, and the
children of two parents who are both naturalized US citizens. Graduating
seniors who plan to pursue graduate study are eligible. Fellows may pursue
graduate degrees in any professional field, such as engineering, medicine,
law, and social work, or any scholarly discipline in the arts, humanities,
social sciences, and sciences. A total of 30 Soros Fellows are selected
each year. Candidates must not be older than 30 years of age. For more

Scholarship: Pamela Harriman Foreign Service Fellowship
Criteria: The College of William and Mary established the Pamela Harriman
Foreign Service Fellowships to inspire the engagement of careers in public
service. Two awards of $5,000 for travel and living expenses and an
eleven-week Summer 2006 service opportunity at the U.S. Embassy in London
or Paris, or at the Office of the Secretary of State in Washington D.C.
are offered annually. Applicants must be juniors or seniors and U.S.

Scholarship: National Physical Science Consortium
Criteria: The National Physical Science Consortium (NPSC) sponsors a
graduate fellowship program for graduate students pursuing a Ph.D in the
physical sciences at one of more than 100 participating colleges and
universities. The award provides tuition and fees and a stipend of $16,000
for up to six years. Recipients are required to work for a NPSC-member
employer during the summer preceding and following the first year of
graduate school. U.S. citizenship and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 are

Scholarship: USA Today All-USA College Academic Team
Criteria: Each February, USA TODAY honors 20 undergraduate academic
all-stars as its All-USA College Academic Team. The students named to the
All-USA College Academic First Team have their photos published and
accomplishments spotlighted in USA Today's Life section as representatives
of all outstanding undergraduates. They each receive a trophy and a $2,500
cash award. Applicants must be full-time undergraduates of at least
sophomore standing. Applicant must be nominated by a faculty member of

Scholarship: Echoing Green Fellowship
Criteria: Echoing Green, a non-profit organization, supports two-year
fellowships for innovative leaders working for social change. The Echoing
Green Fellowship requires a full-time (approximately 35 hrs/wk), two-year
commitment and is best suited to graduating seniors who will complete the
Fellowship before pursuing graduate study or a career. Echoing Green
offers Individual Fellowships for $30,000 annually and Partnership
Fellowships for $45,000 annually for the formation, implementation, and
management of an organization or project for social change. For more

Scholarship: Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics
Criteria: The Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics is annual essay contest. In a
3,000-4,000-word essay, applicants should explore any topic in the domain
of ethics, under the direction of a faculty member of the applicant's
choosing. Awards include one First Prize - $5,000; one Second Prize -
$2,500; one Third Prize - $1,500; and two Honorable Mentions - $500 each.
