 Baseball
    Steve Checksfield had four hits, drove in four runs and scored three times to lead Albany to a doubleheader sweep over C.W. Post  March 25 at Varsity Field.  The Great Danes won the Division I twinbill, 10-2 and 4-1.
    Albany (4-8-1) reversed a 1-0 deficit in the opener with a six-run third inning.  The Great Danes posted their third straight win with a four-run fifth inning in the nightcap.  Checksfield, who raised his batting average to .377, broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single and later scored on a throwing error by catcher Storm Kirschenbaum. Senior hurler Jason Trufant allowed five hits and struck out five en route to his 14th career victory.
    Albany won its home opener with a 9-1 victory over Canisius last Friday.  Rob Ryan blasted a three-run homer to key a six-run sixth inning.

Softball
    Sophomore second base Audrey White doubled and scored in the sixth inning of the nightcap, as Albany split a doubleheader with Bucknell March 26  in the Great Danes’ home opener at Albany Field.  Albany won the second game, 3-2, but lost the opener, 5-3 in 10 innings.
    In the second contest, Bucknell (7-8) reversed a 2-0 deficit in the sixth with an RBI double by Kristina Tan and Kelly Dugan’s run-scoring single.  White led off the bottom of the inning with a double to left field and came across with the winning run on Stacy Kowal’s groundout.  Albany’s Jessica Hansen improved to 5-1 on the mound by allowing six hits and recording six strikeouts. 
    In the first game, Albany (11-4) drew even at three apiece in the fifth on an RBI single by Kara Faraone, who went 4-for-8 at the plate with two runs on the day. 

Women’s Tennis
    Samantha Kramer won in straight set sat first singles to lead Albany to a 9-0 victory over Canisius March 25  at University Courts.  The Great Danes improved to 10-7 overall. Kramer breezed through Kim Tasca, 6-0 and 6-0, in singles, and then partnered with Violeta Petijevic for an 8-2 pro-set triumph at first doubles.  Erinn Langford and Jennifer Hahn also posted victories at third and fourth singles, respectively.

Women’s Lacrosse
    Freshman midfielder Maria Ferrucci tied a season-high with four goals, and Jess Spadafora added three goals and three assists, to lead Albany past Central Connecticut State, 17-8, Saturday at Varsity Field.
