Gov. George
E. Pataki announced March 14 that the University at Albany and Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute (RPI) have won a national competition, along with
Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.)
and the Georgia Institute of Technology, for re-designation as the prestigious
National Interconnect Focus Center by the Semiconductor Industry Association
(SIA), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and top semi-conductor
