A Human Rights Exhibition is on display in the Campus Center Patroon Lounge through the end of the semester. The exhibit is sponsored by the United Nations Association of Albany and by Anne Marfey, Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

The University Council will meet at 4 p.m. in the University Council Room, AD253.

Institute for Research on Women Forum: Professor Ralitsa Muharska, visiting scholar from Sofia University, will lecture on Silences and Parodies: East-West Feminist Dialogue, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in HU290.

Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition
   Opens December 4, 1999
The University Art Museum is pleased to announce its most recent exhibit featuring the work of the University at Albany’s Spring 1999 Master of Fine Arts candidates: Maria Heinrich, Michael J. Mello, Colleen Nudo, and Sean Webster. The artists featured in this exhibition have just completed the University at Albany Art Department’s three-year, 60 credit hour program of intensive training and study in traditional and contemporary fine art practices. The University Art Museum provides the artists with the opportunity to exhibit their work and also offers area viewers the unique opportunity to see emerging artists. This exhibition is an important milestone for these artists, marking their debut into the larger art world.

The Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibit continues through Dec. 19. Opening reception is Saturday, Dec. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Also featured is work by Master of Arts candidates: Abraham Ferraro and Kristen M. Larkin. The M.A. degree is a 30 credit-hour graduate program in studio art.

School of Public Health Fall Seminar Series 1999: Racial Formation and American Public Health, 1880-1920 by Gerard Fergerson from 8-9 a.m. at the East Campus. Free and open to the public.

The President’s Task Force on Women’s Safety will meet from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in AD 123, main campus. The task force has been active for almost 20 years to ensure the safe environment necessary for work and study for women at UAlbany.

Ronell is chair of German and Comparative Literature Studies at New York University.

The New York Writers Institute Classic Film Fall Series 1999 presents: Brazil, directed by Terry Gillian, a variation of George Orwell’s 1984. The film starts at 7:30 p.m. in Page Hall.
