To the Editor:

Kudos to the staff (of UAlbany magazine) on the great January 2002 issue!

I especially liked the picture on page 47 of Draper Hall at dawn; this picture and the other Letters to the Editor brought back many memories of my days at the Albany State College for Teachers. My sister, Mary Eade Bett, Class of ’51, and I were both business majors and members of Myskania. I was managing editor of the State College News in my senior year. The faculty at “State” was outstanding and prepared us for teaching careers after our graduation. I would probably omit some faculty members if I were to single out some here, but they all were dedicated professors.

Thank you for this great issue!

Editor’s note:
We received several requests to identify the individuals in the photo we ran on page 42 of the January issue. The photo, courtesy of Eunice Whittlesey, B.A.’44, of Scotia, N.Y., is of members of Myskania, all from the Class of ’44.

Back row: Frederick A. Shoemaker, Patricia Lattimer Goddu, Mary Domann, Dr. G. Bertram Kiley, Eunice Whittlesey, Edith Aney Davidson.

Front row: Nancy Wilcox Livingston, Janet Baxter Fisher, Mary Stengel Bond, Kathryn Herdman Wilson.

Changing, Yet Remaining
the Same

Just a comment on the great article in the Fall 2001 UAlbany magazine on the downtown campus. Having graduated from the School of Information Science and Policy in 1991, it was nice to see how things are changing, yet remaining the same. I am glad monies are being spent to preserve the old buildings. As a commuter, I did not spend a lot of time on campus, but did enjoy the classes I took there. My copy of the magazine is a must save!

Corrections

In the Fall 2001 issue of UAlbany magazine:

• We incorrectly stated on page 40 that Brian Tolle, B.A.’86, the designer of the Irish Hunger Memorial in New York City, was an employee of 1100 Architect, which is also a member of the design team. Tolle is an independent artist.

In the January 2002 issue of UAlbany
magazine:

• We misspelled the word “roll” on the cover. It is “Honor Roll of Donors,” not “Honor Role of Donors.”

• We erroneously described Mark Yang, Class of 1992, as a portfolio manager on page 30. His correct title is portfolio analyst. Yang is also licensed as an attorney, but does not serve as a legal counsel for UBS PaineWebber.

• In our Honor Roll of Donors for 2000-2001 we inadvertently omitted contributions to the University Art Museum from Carol and Marvin Brown and Ray and Cheryl Stees. They should have been listed as donors to our Capital & Endowment Gift Program.
