Thinking Big: SUNY develops a plan

SUNY develops a plan

he State University of New York is developing a plan to link the libraries of all of its 64 campuses by computer within the next four years. Once implemented, it will be the largest library collection of any public university in the world. Albany’s University Libraries are part of this dynamic joint initiative that will link access to the 18 million volumes and $500 million worth of research materials cumulatively held by institutions within the SUNY system. Regardless of where they are, students and faculty will have direct access and borrowing privileges from all SUNY schools through a World Wide Web gateway on their computer.
