Spring 1999 Albany Magazine

Upfront ....................

University at Albany Prof. James Jaccard is a national leader in efforts to reduce adolescent pregnancy and drunk driving. Other faculty members — John Delano, Dean Falk and Caro-Beth Stewart — are shedding new light on the origins of life. Michael Malbin, a political scientist with over 17 years of experience in Washington, D.C., is leading the University’s “Washington Semester,” which extends, in an exciting new way, the opportunities for undergraduates interested in political science and public administration.

In this issue, Albany highlights all these examples of the distinctive fabric of life at this University and updates you on our alumni “Government Connections” — Thomas Constantine, M.A.’71, head of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration; New York Congressmen Michael Forbes, B.A.’83, and John McHugh, M.P.A.’77; and Bob Bellafiore, B.A.’82, a top aide to Gov. George Pataki.

Be sure to visit the campus for events that make up our “Irish Semester” program or stop by at www.albany.edu for more exciting news.
