Comprehensive/Parking Fee Schedule
Comprehensive/Parking Fees are set based on a cost of service formula and total revenue does not exceed cost of program operation. The fee schedules are designed to provide a variety of options to meet diverse needs. All vehicles parked on campus (except in the controlled-access Visitors Lots or in metered spaces) must display either a valid decal or temporary hang tag purchased from Parking and Mass Transit Services.
Purchasing Decals
Parking decals may be purchased by mail or in person at the Office of Parking and Mass Transit Services. The decal, bearing the correct license plate number, must be PERMANENTLY affixed to the vehicle to which it was issued. If more than one vehicle is to be registered by an individual University member, one decal on a hang tag representing both vehicles will be issued.
If the comprehensive/parking fee has been paid and the individual needs to park an unregistered vehicle on campus, a temporary registration tag must be purchased from the Office of Parking and Mass Transit Services.
Replacement Decals
One free replacement decal per academic year will be issued ONLY when the old decal is submitted to the Office of Parking and Mass Transit Services. Subsequent requests for replacement decals will be filled at current cost when previous decal is surrendered. University members are responsible for obtaining a replacement decal if the license plate and/or vehicle information changes in any way.
Refunds
Pro-rated refunds of the comprehensive fee are issued by the Office of Student Accounts and mailed to students who withdraw from the University. All other parking related refunds must be requested at the Office of Parking and Mass Transit Services. Refunds will be processed only for semesters not yet begun. In cases where permits are issued at the monthly rate, refunds will be processed only for those months not yet begun.
Union Members
Members of some University at Albany unions (CSEA, UUP, PEF, Council 82) are exempt from paying the parking fee due to contractual stipulations. However, vehicle registration and priority parking charges still apply. Union members (GSEU) who register for courses will be required to pay the mandatory comprehensive fee directly to Parking and Mass Transit Services.
Certified Volunteers
Those volunteers, as verified by the Office of Human Resources, who are neither paid employees nor current students of the University, will be exempted from paying comprehensive/parking and registration fees. This will include members of the University Council, members of governing boards, and other individuals performing unpaid voluntary service for the University. Parking permits for certified volunteers will be arranged for by the office coordinating their volunteer activity.
Retired Faculty and Staff
Retired faculty and staff members, as determined by the Office of Human Resources, will be provided parking permits at no charge. Permits must be renewed each August and are valid for all faculty/staff and student areas. Permits are not valid in special permits, visitor lots or metered spaces.
