Tammy-Jo Mortensen (cytj@musica.mcgill.ca) ------------------ Tammy-Jo has a Bachelor of Music (BM) from University of Alberta (Edmonton) where she studied organ under Dr. Marnie Giesbrecht, and piano under Barbara Mackin-Ritz and the late Grant Maxwell. Upon completion of BM, she studied for 1 year at The King's College in Edmonton, under the tutelage of Dr. Jacobus Kloppers (organ) and Joachim Segger (piano). Currently, she is completing a Master of Music degree in Performance with Professor John Grew at McGill University. Tammy-Jo has been very active in the Edmonton Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO). She chaired the education committee for one year, edited the newsletter for two years, and was the Executive Director of the Organ Resource Centre for three years. One of Tammy-Jo's foci in her work with the RCCO is to encourage young people to study the organ. She also enjoys teaching young students and had been examining for the Western Board of Music for several years. She has held only a couple of church positions: Assistant Music Director at Avonmore United (Edmonton), Music Director at Chalmers United (Edmonton), and is currently the College Organist and a Sessional Instructor at the Presbyterian College of Montreal. She is also involved in the choir at Christ Church Cathedral (Anglican) in Montreal.
