Glenn R. Mahnke I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My love of the organ began when I was a chorister in my church's children's choir. I, being rather tall, got to sit in the "back," right next to the organist, and observe all the dazzling things he did on that instrument [3 manual / 32 rank Reuter]. I began my keyboard education in 7th grade, and continued, seemingly, right up to the present [yes, I'm STILL learning!]. I attended Concordia College High School, Milwaukee, and also completed my first two years of college there, studying organ with James Engel. I completed my undergraduate education at Concordia College [now University], River Forest, Illinois, where my major was church music. While at River Forest, I studied organ with Thomas Gieschen and Herbert Gotsch, and piano with Robert Busse. I also completed my Masters' Degree in church music at River Forest, studying organ design with Paul Bunjes and composition with Richard Hillert. I have served four congregations as teacher/director of music, as follows: Grace Lutheran Church & School, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; Saint Paul's Lutheran Church and School, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and School, Dallas, Texas; Zion Lutheran Church and School, Marengo, Illinois [currently serving]. I am Zion Lutheran Church's Director of Music Ministries. My responsibilities include serving as head organist, directing three vocal choirs, three bellchoirs, directing the school's beginning band and Junior High Band programs, teaching classroom music education in the junior high grades, and coordinating all aspects of the congregation's music ministries. I have been happily married for thirty years, and have been blessed with FOUR wonderful daughters!
