Penny Lorenz ------------ Penny Lorenz, of Mill Creek, Washington, is a professional bassoonist, a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, the Auburn Symphony, the Northwest Sinfonietta, and plays regularly with the Seattle Symphony, the Seattle Opera Orchestra, the Northwest Chamber Orchestra, and does freelance work in the Seattle area. She has also recently taken up the baroque bassoon. Her interest in organs and organ music came from her experience as chairperson of the committee to replace an organ destroyed in an arson fire at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood, Washington, seven years ago. The result of that work was a very beautiful 29-stop mechanical action instrument, built for the new church by Martin Pasi Organ Builders, and installed in 1995. Through this, she has developed a passion for the instrument, which has led her to the chairmanship of an active organ recital series at the church, "Artists at the Organ," and is working on a Bach Festival for the Bach year 2000. She is artist manager for the internationally known organ recitalists, Douglas Cleveland, Craig Cramer and Aaron David Miller, she serves as publicist for the Organ Loft radio program (Seattle), and she is an independent travel agent.
