Simon Couture has completed a Master Degree in Musicology at Laval
University (Quebec City), where he also studied organ.
 
In January 1992, he joined Casavant Freres where he works closely
with the Tonal Directors on the projects for new organs and work on
existing organs.
 
Simon Couture has a great interest for the firm's history. To this
date, he has published articles on the Casavant organ at Notre-Dame
Basilica in Montreal and on the fruitful collaboration between
Joseph Bonnet and the Casavant brothers. In fall 1998, he will
publish an article on Alphonse Gigout (Eugene's brother), who was
voicer at Casavant between 1903 and 1909. He is currently doing a
research on Montreal builder Louis Mitchell (flourished 1860-1893)
from the Casavant archives and the press.
