(in Sacred Music & Composition) from The American Conservatory in Chicago. He moved to Kingston from his native Toronto in 1966, to become Director of Music at Chalmers United Church, retiring from that position in June 2010. His choir there broadcast live each Sunday, on local radio from 1950 until 2009, and since then on the internet. It has also been heard in concerts all over eastern Ontario, and as far west as Toronto and London, Ontario. Dr. Cameron founded the Pro Arte Singers in 1974, and directed them for ten years. After a sabbatical in 1984-5, during which he conducted the Washington University Choral Ensemble in St. Louis, he founded Melos, and directs its season of concerts here in Kingston. In 2009 the Melos Choir was joined by its own chamber orchestra, specializing in the music of the eighteenth century. Dr. Cameron has been a festival adjudicator, an examiner for the RCCO and for Queen's, and a Travelling Clinician for the RCCO. He also served as resident musician at Queen's Theological College, and taught music courses for St. Lawrence College. He taught organ and other subjects for Queen's School of Music since the inception of the B.Mus. program, retiring from the university in May 2011. He has also taught many private organ and theory students from centres in eastern Ontario. His former pupils hold church and academic positions across the country. He is author of five textbooks in harmony and counterpoint. His compositions include songs and chamber music, as well as organ music, anthems, and larger pieces. In 2006-08 David Cameron was national President of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. Following his presidency, he became Chair of the College's examinations committee, a position he still holds. In the first half of 2012 he also chaired a Study Group considering changes to the examination stream. For many years he and his longtime partner Frances Harkness spent their summers on their cruising sailboat, but since 2009 they have maintained a summer cottage on Sharbot Lake north of Kingston, which they share with two sailboats and five other boats-plus Fran's Clavinova and David's practice organ
