Biographical Compendium for PIPORG-L ------------------------------------ The bio project of PIPORG-L is an attempt to gather pertinent information about regular contributors and readers of the group to help people better understand the background and interests of the individuals involved. These biographies are not anonymous, as that would defeat the purpose. There are no requirements as to content, length, etc. We edit some of the submissions to remove personal information, such as addresses, which is too sensitive to be releasing indiscriminately to an international mailing list. Mostly, the bios should just contain musical background and interests, "organophile" background and interests, and any other info that might be useful in identifying the individual, such as education, nationality, etc. WHAT TO SUBMIT It is not necessary to offer an autobiography. In general, you should stick to topics that would be of interest to other readers of PIPORG-L. You can recall how you first became attracted to organs and to music. Mention what instruments you have studied or would like to study. This is not your life history: make it contextual. What are your tastes in music -- narrow? eclectic? off-the-wall? Who are your favorite composers, performers? Who are your least favorite composers and performers? Are you an organ builder? Organ service repair person? What is your educational background? What is your employment? And, anything else you feel is appropriate for a general readership. Submissions will not be critiqued, but will be edited for a consistent format and correct spelling (a sample bio is attached as an example of format). Please avoid abbreviations, slang, and acronyms. Clarity and conciseness are virtues. Please include your full name: anonymous submissions will be discarded without comment. WHERE TO SUBMIT Mail your submission to 'piporg-b@albany.edu'. Do not mail to piporg-l, as biographical information posted to the mailing list may or may not be assimilated into the compendium.
