Emeritus Professor Findlay Cockrell performs Gershwin, Grieg, Gottschalk, Chopin, Mozart and Liszt along with Spanish, French and Russian gems.

This German-born percussionist who specializes in hand drumming presents African rhythms and songs played on a variety of instruments including the djembe, conga, kpanlogo, berimbao, kalimba and balaphone.

Capital Collegiate Choral Festival IX

The University Chorale and the University Chamber Singers are joined by a host of area choruses, including those from the College of St. Rose and Schenectady County Community College, in this popular annual choral festival.

Reflections on Childhood

Featuring narration by Jeffrey Cumming and art by Charles Martin, this program will include music by Mozart, Brahms, Amy Beach and Erik Satie performed by pianist Duncan Cumming, violinist Hilary Cumming and mezzo-soprano Fran Wittmann.

Mothers and Children

Soprano Amanda Boyd and pianist Michael Clement present a voice recital of works by Schumann and Poulenc.

A Musical Carousel: Three Stories with Narration, Art and Music

A reading/performance of three children's books - - a classic, The Country Bunny, and two original works, From Bangkok to Bangor and From Haverhill to the Highlands. The program features classical music, Scottish music and a world premiere by David Walther, Jr. along with projections of visual art.

French Music for Four Hands

Eighty musicians aged 5 to 75, including University students, alums, faculty and area piano students and teachers, converge for performances of works by Ravel, Debussy, Faure, Satie and Bizet.

Don Byron Quartet

The celebrated clarinetist and UAlbany faculty member is joined by a group of elite jazz musicians - pianist Edward Simon, bassist Kenny Davis and drummer Billy Hart - in a concert inspired by the music of Lester Young and Eddie Harris.

The Art of Aria Substitution

This concert will feature arias drawn from the repertory of 19th century substitution arias collected from libraries and archives throughout Italy and England. Performers include pianist Duncan Cumming, mezzo-soprano Krista River and speaker Hilary Poriss.

Bob Gluck: Music for Piano and Electronics

Pianist Bob Gluck performs a solo recital featuring a newly commissioned work by acclaimed composer Neil Rolnick and music by Teitelbaum, Mashayekhi, Kleinsasser, Gluck and others.

Kara Cornell

The mezzo-soprano is accompanied by Michael Clement in La Regata Venziana by Rossini, Rückert-Lieder by Mahler, selected songs from Les Nuit d'ete by Berlioz and songs and folk arrangements by Jake Heggie.

These exciting young pianists, originally from New Jersey and now based in Rostock, Germany, are recent winners in the prestigious Murray Dranoff International Two-Piano Competitioin and have won critical acclaim in cities from New York to Montreal.

Frank Glazer's Carnegie Hall Anniversary

Celebrating the 60th anniversary of his Carnegie Hall debut, this Professor Emeritus of Piano at Eastman School of Music plays works of Handel, Brahms, Schubert, Copland, Chopin and others.

The world renowned pianist lectures on "The Relationship between the Composer and the Performer."

Two Piano Concert

In a grand finale to the festival, Frank Glazer and Duncan Cumming will play great works for two pianos including "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by JS Bach, Variations on a Theme of Haydn, Op. 56, by Johannes Brahms and Chopin's Rondo in C major.

In a special residency with the conductor of the SEM Ensemble, Thursday's event is an open rehearsal and discussion about contemporary performance practice. Featuring music by John Cage, Morton Feldman and others, Saturday's concert features the UAlbany Percussion Ensemble and Chamber Singers.

The gifted young artist from Mexico performs piano masterworks of 20th century Mexican nationalism by Manuel M. Ponce, Miguel Bernal Jiménez, José Pablo Moncayo and Euduardo Hernández Moncada and will talk about each work as a portrayal of Mexican character.

The Marriage of Figaro

Sung in Italian, Capital Opera's concert performance of Mozart's much-loved opera features Ivan Amaro, Alexina Jones, Rosa Tulyaganova, Richard Mazzaferro and Kara Cornell under the direction of Michael Clement. There will be a pre-performance talk starting at 6:45.

In their second year in residence at the University at Albany, the Capital Trio will explore piano trio repertoire from the classical period to honor the 200th anniversary of the death of Franz Josef Haydn. The program will feature trios by Haydn, his famous younger colleague and friend Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and an early work by Haydn's most famous student, Ludwig van Beethoven.
