Electric Violist Martha Mooke To Perform for Daniel Pearl World Music Days
October 8
Event Part Of International "Harmony For Humanity" Concert Network

Nyack, NY, Sept. 15, 2007
– Martha Mooke will dedicate her upcoming October 8 concert at the
University at Albany’s Performing Arts Center Recital Hall as part of the annual Daniel Pearl World
Music Days network (www.danielpearlmusicdays.org). This annual event brings together thousands
around the world under the theme of “Harmony for Humanity” to celebrate the power of music to bring
people together and focus on our common humanity rather than the differences that set us apart.

Mooke, a Yamaha artist who has toured with Barbra Streisand, performed on MTV with Bon Jovi and
recorded with David Bowie, will present a plugged-in concert of original music and works written for her
by leading new music composers for her 5-string electric violas. Mooke, a graduate of the University, is
a leading clinician in the field of electric strings and alternative styles and will also be offering a free
clinic at
2:45pm. Admission for the concert is $8/$4 students. Performance begins at 7PM. For more
information contact the SUNYA Music Department at 518-442-4187.

Daniel Pearl World Music Days started in 2002 to honor the birthday of Wall Street Journal reporter
Daniel Pearl, an accomplished musician who was murdered by terrorists in
Pakistan in 2002. This is an
awareness raising event, not a fundraiser. In 2006, 376 concerts in 36 countries were dedicated by
musicians of every musical genre.

Famed jazz innovator Herbie Hancock, summed up the spirit behind Daniel Pearl World Music Days
events in a recent public service announcement, asking listeners to "Join me in using the universal
language of music to diminish hatred, respect differences and reach out in friendship."
