The Music Program of the University at Albany’s Department of Music and Theatre is pleased to present the University Percussion Ensemble in Twenty Drummers Drummin’ on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 7pm at the UAlbany Performing Arts Center on the uptown campus.   In a program titled "Let There Be Light," stories of the holidays will be interspersed between selections of traditional and not so traditional percussion music.

Featured on the program is the haunting work by Allen Molineux, “Crystals” with soprano Angela Matheny teaming up with the ensemble in this presentation of a poem by Kathleen Geminder. Ms. Matheny is the Choir Director and Leader of Song at the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Watervliet and is attending the University at Albany, in the studio of Frances Wittmann, to obtain a B.A. in Vocal Performance.

Also on the program is the Suite for Drum Set by Rochester composer and performer David Mancini, with Ezequiel Esparza on drum set, a Guatemalan marimba piece and a percussion work based on a scene from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings entitled “Khazad-Dûm,” by Richard Ziemba. There will be stories and readings from Bob Consodine, Jacob Fromer, Charles Dickens, the Australian Leadership Lab --- which will show you the politically correct manner of extending good wishes for the holidays --- and the inspirational words of Marilyn Williams.

Tickets are $6 for the general public and $3 for students, seniors & UAlbany faculty/staff and may be purchased through the Performing Arts Center Box Office. For further information, contact the Box Office at (518) 442-3997.
