DEPARTMENT CONTINUES SERIES OF ORIGINAL WORKS
The University at Albany Department of Theatre is pleased to present Plays in Process, a series offered each semester which features readings of original works by student and alumni playwrights. This spring’s readings will take place in the Studio Theatre at the UAlbany Performing Arts Center on the uptown campus on Friday through Sunday, March 30 - April 1, 2012. Performance times are 7pm on Friday & Saturday and 2pm on Saturday & Sunday.
Two plays will be presented during the series with each performance followed by a discussion. Both works featured are by current Departmental Theatre majors who are in their senior year. The readings are directed by adjunct faculty member David Lane with literary advice by Assistant Professor James Farrell.
On Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, Erin Grogan’s Gradient Sky will be performed. Part monologue, part clown turn, the play takes its audience on a poetic odyssey through the underbelly of Anytown, USA.
On Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, Evan Jones’s The Method will take the stage. In this fresh take on film noir, a murder investigation focuses in on a somewhat washed up academy-award winning film star. Unfortunately, in Hollywood, things aren't always what they appear, and in a city full of actors, it's hard to tell who is lying and who's telling the truth.
Admission for each reading is $4. For further information, contact the Box Office at (518) 442-3997.
