The University at Albany Department of Music is pleased to present the second annual Youth Movements Festival from November 12-15, 2009 at the UAlbany Performing Arts Center on the uptown campus.   All three of the festival events will take place in the Recital Hall.

Kicking off the series on Thursday, November 12 at 7:30pm will be a violin and piano recital by Hilary and Duncan Cumming entitled “Family Trees.” The program will include the Schubert Sonatina in D Major, D.384; Brahms Sonata in A major, Op. 100; Dvorák's Sonatina in G major, Op. 100 and the Duo of William Matthews, written as a wedding present for the performers.

On Saturday, November 14 at 3pm, pianist Duncan Cumming will be joined by students from Jackie Abbott’s School of Creative Arts for a performance of Debussy’s children’s ballet, La Boite á Joujoux (The Toy Shop).  Located at The Sand Lake Center for the Arts in Averill Park, the mission of the school is to provide quality technical training in the art of ballet.  Performance opportunities allow the students to demonstrate their acquired skills and experience the joy of performing.

The grand finale of the festival will take place on Sunday, November 15 at 3pm when over 60 pianists from the Capital Region will perform Dvořák's Slavonic Dances.  Performers will include faculty, staff, students and alumni from the UAlbany as well as other teachers and students of all ages from the area.

Tickets for the Thursday and Sunday concerts are each $8 for the general public and $4 for seniors, students and UAlbany faculty-staff.
