The University at Albany Department of Music is pleased to present its tenth annual Holiday Concert on Sunday,
December 7, 2008 at 3pm in the Main Theatre of the Performing
Arts Center on the uptown campus. Several
University ensembles -- the Chorale, Chamber Singers, Concert Band, Jazz
Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra -- will be joined by student groups --
Serendipity, Earth Tones and Angelic Voices of Praise -- for a concert
celebration of the season.
The
program will include the Concert Band performing Robert E. Foster’s Emmanuel Variants and a musical version
of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole
Christmas. The Chamber Singers will
offer six selections including Alice Parker and Robert Shaw’s Fum, Fum, Fum; Darmon Meader’s
arrangement of The First Noel and I Have a Little Dreydel as arranged by
Matthew Lazer and Tayku. The Symphony
Orchestra and Chorale will join forces to present Michael Isaacson’s Light the Legend and Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival. The Jazz Ensemble will offer three selections
including Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride.
Tickets are $8 for the general public; $6 for seniors and UAlbany
faculty-staff and $4 for students and may be purchased through the Performing
