The University at Albany Department of Music is pleased to present the Bob Gluck, Michael Bisio and Dean Sharp Trio in a concert on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at 3pm in the Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center on the uptown campus.  The trio is an imaginative and dynamic improvisatory jazz ensemble comprised of three well-seasoned musicians, successful in several musical worlds. Founded this past winter to perform the music of Ornette Coleman, Keith Jarrett and Weather Report, its repertoire has expanded to feature original compositions and extended improvisations. Initial performances have included the Saratoga Arts Center, Justin's on Lark and live on North East Public Radio, a broadcast heard across New York’s Capital District, the Catskills, mid-Hudson Valley and much of Connecticut.

Multi-talented pianist, composer, software interface designer and historical writer, Bob Gluck's repertoire spans jazz performance integrating electronics, free improvisation, avant-garde concert music and music for electronic expansions of acoustical instruments. He is Assistant Professor at UAlbany where he directs the Electronic Music Studio. Michael Bisio is a distinctly original bassist and composer whose list of collaborators reads like a who's who of jazz.  He has performed at the Earshot and Guelph Jazz Festivals, the famed Vision Festival in New York and at Tanglewood. Dean Sharp has performed and recorded with a strikingly diverse array of creative artists including Moby, Brad Mehldau, Joe Lovano, and Tony Levin.  He is a prolific creative percussionist, producer and remixer. As a trio, they bring a unique perspective to teaching and performing jazz, bridging traditional and avant-garde perspectives. The trio’s goal is to mesh their highly individual voices within a collective whole. They view every performance as an opportunity to explore new ground, while drawing from the past.
