The University at Albany Department of Music is pleased to present a
shared program by the University Concert Band and the University Jazz
Ensemble on Monday, October 29, 2006 at 7:30pm in the Main Theatre of the Performing Arts Center on the uptown campus.
Directed by faculty
member Kevin Champagne, the Concert
Band’s portion of the program will include music by Stravinsky and Mendelssohn. Directed by faculty member David
Hosley, the
University Jazz Ensemble will be playing the
music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Chuck
Mangione.
Champagne
has performed throughout New York State
as a solo classical guitarist as well as with various jazz and rock bands. He has also sung with the Westminster
Choir College
at Carnegie Hall and with the College
of Saint Rose Masterworks Chorale
at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. Champagne
has been employed as Band Director at Lansingburgh
Central School District
since 1988. Hosley, a teacher at Columbia
High School leading the school’s
Wind and Jazz Ensembles, is a professional trumpet player, keyboardist and
piano player with Top Shelf.
The two ensembles
will offer another shared program this season on March 19. The Concert Band will also perform as part of
the Holiday Concert on December 2 and will share a program with the Percussion
Ensemble on May 5.
