Basic Environmental Health Program The School of Public Health and NYSDOH Center for Environmental Health partner to provide mandatory training to environmental health professionals. Center for Global Health The Center serves as the School of Public Health’s focal point for international collaborations, research, and programs. Center for Health Workforce Studies The Center collects, tracks, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates information about health professionals at the national, state, and local levels. Center for Public Health Preparedness The Center for Public Health Preparedness provides emergency preparedness training, resources, and assistance to public health professionals and community partners. Center for Public Health Preparedness Web-based Coursework Preparedness web-based coursework was developed in partnership with the Professional Development Program at the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs Center for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities The Center focuses on minority health disparities in the smaller cities and towns of New York. Community Advisory Committee The Advisory Committee, comprised of community leaders from partner organizations, helps identify opportunities for collaborative contributions to public health. Evaluation Services Unit The School of Public Health's Evaluation Unit facilitates the conduct of scientifically rigorous evaluation of public health interventions. Evidence-based Public Health Training Evidence-based Public Health Training provides experience to local health practitioners in developing programs based on sound scientific principles. Health Partnerships with County Governments and Community Health Services The School of Public Health collaborates with counties throughout New York to support developing community health policy, programs, and assessments. Improving Cardiac Care Improving Cardiac Care is a research project aimed at improving the quality of cardiac surgery in New York State. Institute for the Advancement of Healthcare Management The New York Resource Center and web site offer workplace safety and health training tools. Internships, Practicum Rotations, Field Placements Interdisciplinary programs and the MS in Epidemiology and Health Policy, Management & Behavior include internships/field placements at 200+ placement sites. Maternal and Child Health Through collaboration, the School of Public Health provides training on current women's and children's health issues of clinical and public health significance. Northeast Public Health Leadership Institute (NEPHLI) Northeast Public Health Leadership Institute prepares emerging public health leaders through a combination of residential retreats and distance learning. Outbreak Investigation Training for Nursing Home Staff This training is geared toward infection control nurses and other staff in nursing homes who may be involved in investigating outbreaks. Prevention Research Center Community Summit For several years, the Prevention Research Center has been conducting a research project to promote walking in rural communities. Preventive Medicine Residency Program This nationally acclaimed program, co-sponsored by the School and Department of Health, prepares physicians for leadership careers in public health. Professional Development The School of Public Health is a source of public health continuing education in New York State. Public Health Leaders of Tomorrow Program (PHLOT) PHLOT provides funding for State and Local Health Department employees to seek training through academic coursework and/or leadership development initiatives. Public Health Live! — Third Thursday Breakfast Broadcasts Presents educational broadcasts each month to public healthcare workers across New York State and the United States. School of Public Health The School of Public Health links academic study to public health practice, addressing issues such as cardiac care, HIV treatment, and environmental health. Training for the Nursing Home Industry The School of Public Health in partnership with the NYSDOH and professional associations offer training seminars for nursing home professionals.
