The University at Albany maintains a subscription to the Community of Science (COS), a web-based search network for scholars, scientists and R&D professionals in all fields. Anyone using a computer with an domain is allowed access to COS Funding Opportunities. University at Albany faculty, researchers, and graduate students can Join COS and take advantage of free access to all COS databases, from any computer, through their personal workbench. COS’s mission is to help you find funding, collaborate with colleagues, and promote your research. COS has been publishing on the Web since February 1994 and currently contains more than 500,000 researcher profiles from around the world.

COS Expertise

  • Maintains a 500,000 member Worldwide Research Expertise Database which includes 1600 universities, government agencies, and other R&D organizations.
  • Contains profiles submitted by individual researchers. Make your expertise known to a worldwide audience by Registering your profile, if not already included in the Expertise Database. Profiles include biographical information, expertise, and research interests.
  • Profiles can be viewed by educational institutions, corporations and government agencies, who are members of COS, allowing potential research funding and collaboration.
