Mayra was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, with a minor in Journalism in 2009 from the University at Albany. Mayra took a year off before returning to the University at Albany to obtain a Master’s of Science in Secondary Education (MSSE)  Degree in English in 2012.  She currently serves as a Residence Hall Director on Indian Quad. Mayra enjoys mentoring and working closely with students of all ages. In fact, she student taught at two City School District of Albany schools with students ranging in age from 12-18 and volunteered abroad in Mexico teaching students the benefits of oral hygiene. Mayra’s previous experiences at the University include serving as an Orientation Assistant in 2008 and working with the Department of Residential Life in a variety of positions (Resident Assistant, Housing Manager, Graduate Assistant and Residence Hall Director).  She is a die-hard Yankees fan, loves hamburgers, and loves traveling abroad (her favorite experience abroad thus far has been in China!)
