Summer Research Program 2008
The University at Albany Summer Research Program (UASRP) considers research an integral part of the undergraduate college experience and a way to encourage graduate study because it integrates students early into the research culture. Therefore, UAlbany sponsors an annual Summer Research Program which offers qualified traditional underrepresented undergraduates an enriching and valuable research experience. Participants are placed under the direction and VAguidance of faculty members and researchers from the University at Albany, Albany Medical College, NYS Department of Health’s Wadsworth Center, Stratton Medical Center, RPI,&the College of Nanoscale Science&Engineering at the University at Albany for an intensive 8 or 12 week residential program.
Research is the main focus of the summer program. Each UASRP participant will be placed under the direction of a University at Albany faculty mentor and graduate student to work on a specific research assignment. This is a unique opportunity to receive hands-on training in academic research and scholarly writing.
The UASRP also features a variety of seminars and workshops designed to enhance skills needed for graduate study. Other workshops will be announced throughout the summer, which will focus on a broad spectrum of graduate study topics such as tips on applying to graduate school, computer technology training, and presentation skills. The UASRP also hosts enriching events and field trips.
