UNIVERSITY AT ALBANY
ACADEMIC TALENT SEARCH
OFFICE OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES

Academic Talent Search is a federally funded program which identifies and encourages individuals between the ages of 11-27 to successfully complete middle school and high school, and go on to enroll in a program of study beyond high school.

The services and activities offered by the Academic Talent Search Program are tailored to meet the student's needs. Academic Talent Search students are offered informational sessions, workshops, and informal meetings. These take place at the targeted schools within Schenectady, Troy and Albany communities.

Academic Talent Search students are expected to maintain a good attendance record at school, meet regularly with an Academic Talent Search Counselor, and participate in scheduled program activities.

Goals of the Program:

ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE: One goal is to help students involved in the program improve their study skills so that they can improve their grades and complete their course satisfactorily.

CAREER EXPLORATION: Another goal of this program is to help program students understand career opportunities available in today's society and in the future world of work, and to show them how to achieve their goals.
